A new campus-wide mental health campaign is launched by Harvard.

Alan M. Provost's Implementation Committee on Student Mental Health Garber '76 is in charge of the new initiatives. The task of putting into action the recommendations made by Harvard's Task Force on Managing Student Mental Health, which Garber convened in 2019 to investigate the state of Harvard's student wellbeing, falls on the committee.

The task force stated in its 2020 final report that "strong mental self-care is essential to the long-term success we hope for all our students."

"We're All Human" will be the name of the new mental health awareness campaign that was one of the task force's recommendations. A virtual learning module with information on "self-care management skills, opportunities to engage in wellness activities, support services offered by the University" and other guidance was also developed by the school, according to an email sent Thursday by university administrators.

In an email to affiliates of the College announcing the initiatives, Dean of Students Katherine G. O'Dair wrote, "Across the University, we are committed to changing culture when it comes to our wellbeing and mental health."Harvard can and should be a community that puts well-being first and gets rid of the stigmas associated with mental health and seeking treatment.

The University's campaign will get off to a good start with the online learning module.

Throughout their time at Harvard, students from all of the University's schools will have access to the module, allowing them to repeat the course. The module is not required of students, but it is recommended.

O'Dair wrote in her email that undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, and staff all contributed to the creation of the "We're All Human" campaign.

"The Dean of Students Office and many other offices within the College and University look forward to working with you and every member of our community to change," she wrote. the culture around mental health and well-being."
